Sinister RPG is the newest in the line of games developed for Third Eye Games. For this one, you get to come along for the ride.
You know what I never understood about Pokemon? Evolution. It was cool that some monsters could morph into a more powerful form, but there are rarely any real cause behind such a drastic change. There was even one episode where Pikachu had the chance to evolve into Raichu and CHOSE not to? WTF? Since when did any creature choose their evolutionary path? It all seems off to me, so I just want to ensure to you… the readers of my development of Sinister… that there will not be any kind of natural evolution for these creatures.
Unnatural modification, however, will be all over the place. Not only will there be ways to pump your monster with enough portal energy to force a crazy (and probably quite unpredictable) mutation into a different of creature, but there’ll be technological upgrades that you can make if you have enough Wealth and i’m toying with the idea of cross-breeding through genetic experimentation. I mean, the possibilities are endless, man meddling with the natural evolution of these creatures, but none of it will be based on the monster’s choice or how much a trainer cares for their monster, as it always was in Pokemon. bleh.
So some mutation tracks (oh, i like the sound of that) might be very logical, like the bulbasaur up top. A closed bud to a half-blossom to a full blossom. Makes sense, right? (As much sense as Pokemon makes in the first place). But there’ll also be some “this turned into that thing?” kind of moments too.
Until next time.

Life Cycle:
There are many real world creatures that go through a metamorphoses through their life cycle. The most common example of course is the butterfly. Of course this instantly makes me think of Mothra when discussing monsters but I was never much of a Pokemon guy.
While I wont take up too much time as it seems like this could be a very windy road considering the source material there might be something to say about a acid spitting slug monster that goes through a metamorphic state as a flying chitinous thing maybe having traded in it’s acid for a chemical fire or something along those lines. Although, I really think something like that should be an exception not the rule if only because of the head explody level of work required would effectively double.
Personally I love this idea of it being mutations. that way it could mean that no two monsters are the same
